- What is a Firearms License?
A Firearms License is a license issued by the Government that allows you to possess firearms, acquire firearms and buy ammunition. There are two types: "Possession Only" and "Possession and Acquisition".
- When do I need a Firearms License?
As of January 1st, 2001 any person in possession of a firearm MUST have a Firearms License.
- Can I still get a "Possession Only" License?
"NO" A Possession Only License was only avalable before January 1st, 2001,now you can only get a "Possession and Acquisition" Licence.
- Where do I get a license?
A license is obtained from the Federal Government. Application forms can be obtained from Firearms Education School or contacting The Canadian Firearms Center at.. 1-800-734-4000 or..Canadian Firearms Center
- Do I have to take a course or test for these licences?
"YES" The test is mandatory but the course is optional with some restrictions. Persons 17 yr's and younger and persons that have had a firearms proabition must take the course.
- Where can I take this test?

- When must I register my firearms?
The deadline for registration of "Non Restricted Firearms" is January 1st, 2003. The deadline for reregistration of "Restricted Firearms" is also January 1st, 2003.
- Is there a fee to register my Firearms?
There is a $18.00 fee for all your "Non Restricted Firearms" if registered at one time.There is no fee for reregistering "Restricted Firearms".You can also register firearms "ON LINE" for free till January 1st, 2003. This can be done at Canadian Firearms Center
